Paper Issues Abroad Blog Hop!!

At Paper Issues we are having a little blog hop to start our new theme which is "Abroad", in honour of Studio Calico's Abroad collection. Travel, travel, travel...I love this theme!! To celebrate this theme we are having a mini blog hop.  Sounds fun, hey!!
For this layout I used an old photo of my BFF and I celebrating our first night in Maui, in 1993.  Those were the carefree days of our youth,  Oh what fun we had! For this theme I created a layout using a map paper from Pink Paislee's Daily Junque collection.

To create the sun rays I cut a triangle template and used moulding paste then applied colour spray to highlight the ray. For my title I used song lyrics from Fun's new song "We Are Young".

I used lots of texture with the cardboard, stitching and plastic grid.

Now for the real fun Paper issues is having a GIVEAWAY to celebrate this fabulous theme!

Layouts!

This weekend I was away for a scrappy weekend with the girls!  I always come back with sore cheeks from all of the laughing we do and a few finished projects, yay!  I am definitely not one of those people who do 80 layouts in a weekend (not really my style) but I love what I get done and I enjoy being away from all responsibility for an entire weekend.  Thanks to my hubby!!
These are a few of the projects I worked on this weekend.

@ 11 is a simple layout using photos of our family that were taken on November 11, 2011 at 11:11am.  I have been wanting to use this Bobunny paper for a long time and these photos were perfect, as the script on the paper talks about documenting everyday life.

I absolutely love this layout, it has to be my favourite layout of the whole weekend.  Again I used Bobunny paper, but a much newer line.  This photo of Miss Taylor was taken by my Maddie girl. She did a fabulous job and she did the impossible, got Taylor to smile for a photo.  Something I haven't been able to do for a long time.  Taylor hates having her picture taken, what a stinker!

And this layout is about Miss Taylor and how she won't stand still for a photo.  This is the typical photo I get of T these days, either blurred or partials because she is trying to avoid the camera.  I printed the photo on canvas photo paper.  The top photo lifts like a book and a plastic sleeve houses two more crazy pictures of Miss T, with journaling under that.

I also worked on some other projects that aren't complete yet, I am hoping to finish them soon and then I will post them. Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!

She Art Mini and More!

Ok so my "She Art" mini album class started last night, yay!!  We had a fabulous time working on the front cover.  Each month we will be creating a new mixed media page to fill our album.

I created this little sweetie using a 5x7 mini canvas.  I love how her tutu hangs over the edge of the canvas.  So cute!!

And this heart canvas, totally inspired by Christy Tomlinson, turned out amazingly!!

On another note, Paper Issues Etsy Store  just received a ton of Smash products and Lily Bee paper pads!!!  Go check it out and if you use the code SUSAN you will receive 20% off your entire purchase!! Have a great weekend.

Jenni Bowlin Vintage Cigar Box Project

Happy Monday!!  To brighten your Monday I thought I would share a project  I created with the Jenni Bowlin Vintage Cigar Box.  The little compartments were so fun to fill with little details.  I taught this class on Saturday and the girls loved it!!  Thanks ladies for a fun day.  I still need to find a picture to fill the space on the left.

This little birdcage is my favorite part of this whole project.

Burlap and tufting with cute buttons, pure love!!

Super sweet dress form with tutu and lots of glitter.

Even a spot for a little love note.

A single hanging heart in a vile, how sweet is that!

Have you had a chance to play with Jenni's cigar box?  Leave a link to your project I would love to see what you created!

I am happy to say that my mojo is back and I have been feeling quite creative, my mind whirling with new project ideas!  Last week I started this adorable mixed media canvas, and was able to finish it this weekend!  I love the bright colors and happy feeling of this canvas.

Cute little love birds on a picket fence, how sweet is that.

Cut this cute little phrase from an old Fancy Pants Valentines collection.  It is the perfect finishing touch to my canvas.

Hockey Tape, Tissue Tape, Washi Tape Oh MY!!

Ok so the new theme is up at Paper Issues and you guessed it, it's all about tape this time!!  Gotta love that.  I am so in love with tape right now, so this theme is perfect for me!  I created this layout using one of my fave tapes, hockey tape.  I also included some tape from Heidi Swapp that I've had in my stash for years and lets not forget the Dymo labeler tape...love it all!!

One of my favorite things to do with the hockey tape is to stamp on it.  This time I used a number stamp to embellish the white hockey tape.

This year my boy's hockey team was chosen to have a skills practice session at the Saddle Dome, the home of the Flames (for you non hockey fans).  Well this is pretty exciting for a 9 year old who loves Kipper (the Flames Goalie).  I captured this photo of Harrison during drills  and then later came across this picture of Kipper in the same position.  I love how little Harrison looks in the net compared to Kipper.  Every little boy who plays hockey dreams of making it into the NHL and Harrison is no different.   Needless to say this was an amazing day for our little H-Bomb that he will remember for a lifetime.

Cassie Box the owner of Paper Issues and our faithful, talented leader also has an Etsy shop filled with fabulous products.  Some of the products she carries is twine from the twinery (can I just say I love this stuff!), Smash products, the latest patterned paper and embellishments, chipboard, watch parts, Crafter's Workshop Stencils, doilies and much much more. You should check it out!  Cassie is offering all my readers a huge 20% discount on any purchases made at her Paper Issues Etsy Shop!!!  To receive the discount you need enter "SUSAN" at check out, so she knows that I sent you.  Happy shopping!

Have a great day and don't forget to link your tape layouts/projects over at Paper Issues!
